Emergency Plumber Abermain
Abermain Plumbing Co handles emergency plumbing in Abermain day and night: burst pipes, sewage coming up, a dead hot water unit or a gas smell. A plumber answers, comes out to stop the damage, and fixes the price of the repair before starting.
Night work runs the same way as the daytime jobs for Abermain Plumbing Co: we look, we price, and only then do we repair.

What Counts as a Plumbing Emergency?
Ring tonight if water, sewage or gas is doing harm right now or will by morning:
- Water spraying from a split pipe or a burst flexi hose under a vanity
- Sewage rising out of the yard gully or the shower drain
- A property with no water, or a tap you cannot turn off
- The smell of gas indoors or by the meter
- Hot water pouring from the base of the cylinder
A dripping tap or a slow sink is a daytime job. Not sure which yours is? Describe it on the phone and the plumber will say whether it needs a visit tonight.
Is a Blocked Sewer an Emergency?
Once sewage is coming up, yes.
The village sewers are old clay. Pipe under many Abermain yards dates from the early pit years, and shifting clay soil has loosened its joints over a century. A line that chokes completely backs up to the lowest outlet on the property.
Sewage overflowing from a gully or a floor waste is a health risk, so keep children and pets away and ring straight away. How the choke is found and cleared is covered on the blocked sewer page.
When a Pipe Lets Go, Act Fast
A burst under an older house can put litres across the subfloor before anyone finds the torch. What you do before we arrive decides how big the clean-up is.
Three steps, in order:
- Shut the water down at the front boundary tap, or at the isolation valve near the meter if there is one.
- Open a tap at the low end of the house so the remaining pressure drains out through it instead of the split.
- Kill power to any circuit the water has reached, and stay away from the wet area until it is dry.
Then ring and tell us the source of the water, so the right pipe and fittings come with the plumber.
What Happens on a Night Call
- 01
Ring or send the form
Call (02) 4063 3475 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.
- 02
A fixed price first
A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.
- 03
Stop the water, then fix the cause
We isolate the leak, cut out the split pipe or failed fitting, join in new, and test under mains pressure before mopping up.
- 04
Covered for a year
Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.
Pricing You See Before Work Starts
We provide up-front, honest quotes that will always match the final price, should you decide to go ahead.
It costs nothing to get us out to your door (excluding after-hours). The emergency surcharge is spelled out when you ring, so it never first appears on the bill.
What moves the total on an emergency job:
- Crawl space, because reaching a burst under a low cottage floor takes time
- The pipe being joined, as rusted galvanised and cracked clay need special couplings
- Whether a temporary fix tonight and a full repair tomorrow is the better plan
- The clock, since a visit outside business hours is dearer
Old Pipes and the Hours That Find Them
Galvanised elbows rust thin from the inside
Flexi hoses have a short life
Clay sewers block when they choose
Frost finishes old cylinders
Where the Fault Points Next
An emergency can uncover work that needs planning in daylight:
drains hub
Recurring blockages and slow lines lead to the drains hub, and repeat root trouble to tree root removal
hot water hub
A cylinder that has failed for good means choices on the hot water hub
gas fitting
Any gas fault found during a night visit gets booked for proper gas fitting work
leak detection
Water you cannot see but can hear points to leak detection
What Customers Say
I commend them for their very fast and efficient service when we had a burst pipe.
When We're Not the Right Call
Water bubbling up in the footpath or verge, before your meter, is a Hunter Water repair, and their faults line sends their own crew. Sparks, a burning smell at the switchboard or power still live near water call for an electrician first.
Quick Answers Before You Dial
Do you really come out to Abermain in the middle of the night?
Yes. Someone picks up at 2am the same as at 2pm, and a night job is booked exactly like a daytime one. Describe the water, the smell or the noise, and the plumber packs the fittings and tools that fault needs.
How much more does an after-hours call cost?
It costs nothing to get us out to your door (excluding after-hours). A night, weekend or public holiday visit has its own surcharge, quoted on that first phone call. The repair is then priced separately once the plumber has seen the damage, and you approve it first.
What if the burst is between the water meter and the street?
Hunter Water owns the pipe from the street up to and including the meter, so water gushing on that stretch is theirs to fix, and you call their faults number. From the meter's outlet into the house the pipe is yours, and a burst there is ours to fix.
Is water pooling near power points dangerous?
Yes, until the power is off. If you can reach the switchboard without crossing wet floor, turn off the circuit for that room. If you cannot, keep everyone out of the room and tell us on the phone where the water is and what it is touching.
